Don't Judge a Game By It's Cover

I had been hoping to get this voyage off to a quick start.  This past Saturday I had hopes of finding some good games or consoles in a local neighborhood garage sale.  This sale was supposed to consist of twenty plus house.  In my thinking, I knew that I would be able to find something somewhere with all of those garage sales.  I had the wife convinced to get up and go with me, but as alarms went off it would turn out that surprisingly, both our boys were still asleep.  So Lindsey declined to stay asleep while I got ready.  This time, Id be going solo.

I stopped by the gas station to grab a cup of coffee.  As I drove to the neighborhood I had high hope of finding something really nice.  The neighborhood was nice, with a lot of older couples living in it.  Surely I could find something here, right?  The first few houses were duds.  Spirits began dwindling as I walked from sale to sale, my eyes quickly looking for old console.  Yet my eyes never saw one, and my only score of the day came in the form of a couple of older Playstation 2 games.

It was the very last house that I approached, and I wasn't expecting to find much of anything.  But as I walked my way to the last table, my eyes lit up as I saw a Playstation 2 and games.  Browsing through the games, my eyes immediately lit up.  Not only were these people gamers, they were RPG fans.  The games I immediately saw were, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy X-2, and Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2.  I grabbed them up and asked how much.  A buck a piece they replied.  I think my jaw hit the ground at this time.  I was about to get four classic PS2 games, for four buck.  I agreed and forked over the measly four bucks, that could lead to a ridiculous amount of entertainment for years to come.  No consoles on this hunt, but some really great games.

But hold on a minute, you do remember the title of the blog post, right?  Don't judge a game by its cover.  As excited as I was when I saw the boxes I never opened them up.  So you can only imaging my heartbreak when I saw this.

That's not Kingdom Heart 1 or 2 in their boxes.  It's unfortunate, but it has taught me to always be sure of what I am buying.  If I am going to go through with this project and only purchase from places such as garage sale, flea markets, and antique shops, I need to be smarter.  I am just glad I learned my lesson early and for just two bucks.  But hey, I still got two good games out, so I'm still happy.

Hope you guys enjoyed the read.  There will be more when I find more.
